The practice session of KKR and RCB was already spoiled by rain on Friday (March 21). Everyone is wondering the same thing—what will the weather be like on Saturday? On the eve of the opener, rain covered Eden Gardens entirely, forcing teams to stay in their dressing rooms as the ground remained under covers.

An orange alert has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for Kolkata on March 21 and 22.

According to AccuWeather, scattered showers are expected during the game, with humidity staying above 70 percent throughout. Wind speeds will range between 11 and 15 km/h. While the chances of rain decrease at night, the IMD's warning remains in effect, meaning the match could still be impacted.
Focusing back on the match between KKR and RCB, under Shreyas Iyer’s leadership, KKR dominated the 2024 IPL season, winning nine of their 14 matches. They topped the table with 20 points and secured a spot in Qualifier 1, where they defeated Pat Cummins’ Sunrisers Hyderabad. Gautam Gambhir’s squad carried that momentum into the final, clinching their third IPL title. For the 2025 season, Ajinkya Rahane will take charge of KKR, following Shreyas Iyer’s move to Punjab Kings.

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru had a disastrous start to their IPL 2024 campaign. However, RCB staged an impressive late comeback, securing a crucial victory over Chennai Super Kings in their final group match to reach the playoffs. Though they fell short against Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator, the three-time finalists displayed remarkable resilience. With Faf du Plessis now with Delhi Capitals, Rajat Patidar will captain RCB in the 2025 season.
