IPL 2024: Virat Kohli refuses to give Rinku Singh another bat after he breaks one, says, 'Because of you, I face consequences later'

Ahead of the much-anticipated clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), an interesting exchange unfolded between KKR's Rinku Singh and RCB's star player, Virat Kohli. Rinku approached Kohli to inform him that he had broken the bat previously gifted to him by the RCB batsman.

The incident occurred just before their teams were set to face each other for the second time this season. In their first encounter, despite Kohli's impressive 59-ball 83, KKR emerged victorious. At the end of that match, Kohli had generously given Rinku one of his bats, which unfortunately broke during a subsequent game.

KKR released a video capturing the moment Rinku broke the news to Kohli. In the video, Rinku can be seen explaining, "I broke the bat against a spinner."

Kohli, surprised, asked: "My bat? You broke it against a spinner? Where did it break?"

Rinku replied, "From the middle."

Kohli’s response was a mix of resignation and mild irritation, "What should I do then?"

"I was just informing you," Rinku responded.

Kohli retorted, somewhat exasperated, "No problem. Good that you told me. But I don’t need this information."

The conversation took a light-hearted turn as Rinku began knocking the ball with two of Kohli’s other bats, only for Kohli to dismiss them as no good. When Rinku asked if Kohli would send one of them, Kohli humorously questioned, "To whom am I sending?"

Rinku then handed the bats back to Kohli, saying, "You can keep it."

Kohli then pointed out the dilemma of giving away another bat, "You took a bat from me previously. Now you want a second bat in the second game? Because of you, I face consequences later." Despite his reluctance, Rinku playfully promised, "I swear on you, won't break the bat again." He even offered to show Kohli the broken bat.
