IND vs WI: Dhruv Jurel marked his maiden Test century on Friday (October 2) against the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with a heartfelt tribute to his father, dedicating the milestone to him through a special army-style gesture. Jurel’s father, a Kargil War veteran who served in the 1999 conflict and retired as a Havildar from the Indian Army, has been a major inspiration in his life, something Jurel has spoken about in earlier interviews.
His celebration, featuring a salute to the crowd, quickly went viral on social media, capturing the admiration of fans across the country. Notably, Jurel also did a salute celebration when he reached his fifty, a proud acknowledgment of his father’s service and sacrifice.

India reached 448 for five at stumps on day two of the opening Test against the West Indies, stretching their lead to 286 runs after centuries from KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja on Friday.
Jadeja (104) and Washington Sundar (9) were at the crease at close of play. The duo of Jadeja and Jurel added 206 runs for the fifth wicket to guide the hosts to a dominant position.
This was the 24-year-old Jurel's maiden Test hundred. Earlier, KL Rahul (100) got out after scoring a fine century. (With PTI inputs)
