Ravichandran Ashwin, who hasn't been a regular in India's overseas Test XI, will turn 39 by the time India's next home season begins, following their upcoming away series in England.
With the bat, Ashwin scored 3503 runs in Test cricket for India with 6 hundreds and 14 fifties. He won the Player-of-the-Series award for 11 times playing for India.
"I won't take too much of your time. Today will be the last day for me as an India cricketer," said Ashwin at the conclusion of the drawn third Test during a joint press conference with captain Rohit Sharma. He declined to take any questions and left immediately after delivering his statement.
