A video of Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh dancing energetically to the popular track “Hawan Karenge” circulated widely on social media this week, drawing widespread reactions from users across platforms.

The footage, believed to have been recorded during a private gathering, showed the Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief performing spirited dance steps as onlookers cheered. The clip was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @sumitjh66117264 with the caption: “IAF Chief Amar Preet Singh after destroying 11 Air bases and multiple fighter jets of Pakistan.”

In the comment section, one respondent suggested that the celebration was linked to the recent phasing out of the MiG-21 aircraft from IAF service earlier this month, although the precise timing of the recording could not be independently verified.

The video triggered a flood of appreciative responses. One user commented: “Hats off, your exuberance is well deserved, your iconic destruction of Pak fighter planes & jets is the epitome that symbolises this movement. You are great & may you live long.” Another remarked: “The more I see, the more I fall in love with Indian Defence Services.” A third wrote: “Salute to Sir and his team and their family members.”

The clip emerged shortly after the IAF Chief delivered the 16th Air Chief Marshal L M Katre Memorial Lecture, where he reflected on past and recent operations. He addressed the long-standing debate surrounding the Balakot air strike of 2019, explaining how the absence of photographic evidence had caused controversy at the time.

“When we did Balakot, we did something similar (to Operation Sindoor). Unfortunately, we couldn’t tell our own people as to what we have been able to achieve. We had intelligence that there had been huge damage; there were so many terrorists who were neutralised, but we could not convince our own people,” he said.

He contrasted this with Operation Sindoor, during which the IAF successfully engaged multiple Pakistani aircraft. “But (this time) we were lucky, and we got these videos out in the open. I am happy that we could take care of that ghost of Balakot,” he added.

According to his lecture, the IAF shot down five Pakistani fighter jets and a large aircraft during Operation Sindoor, describing it as the largest recorded surface-to-air engagement achieved by India. The Chief presented slides and visual evidence during the address to substantiate the account.
