Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar set social media abuzz on Sunday night with his joyful dance moves at the Dubai International Stadium following India’s triumph in the Champions Trophy. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, Team India secured a four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the final, clinching their third ICC Champions Trophy title after previous wins in 2002 and 2013.

In a now-viral video, the 75-year-old cricket legend bursts into an impromptu dance as the Indian team steps onto the podium to receive the coveted Champions Trophy, along with the traditional ‘white jacket.’ Presenter Mayanti Langer, unable to contain her laughter, steps aside to give viewers an unobstructed view of Gavaskar’s celebratory moment. Meanwhile, fellow panellist Robin Uthappa grins as he pulls out his phone to capture the heartwarming scene. Watch the video here...

“Who’s going to stop Sunny ji today?” Star Sports presenter Jatin Sapru asked as he watched Gavaskar’s dance moves.

Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh responded, “We shouldn’t stop him today because this is a wonderful moment. It was fun to watch him. He is a legend and a respected cricketer. It was for him that we all started playing cricket. We were fortunate that those trophies were in our hands. And today, he is living that same feeling again.”

As Ravindra Jadeja struck the winning runs, the commentary box exploded with excitement. During India’s trophy presentation, amid an ongoing interview, the legendary opener-turned-analyst Sunil Gavaskar suddenly sprang to his feet and broke into an impromptu dance.

His arms flailed joyously, his feet moved to an unheard rhythm, and his beaming smile reflected the euphoria of millions. The man who once dismantled bowling attacks with surgical precision was now cutting through the air with dance moves worthy of a celebration.
