What Is Yogini Ekadashi?

Yogini Ekadashi is a highly revered vrat (fast) dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is believed that observing a fast on this day washes away all sins and grants material and spiritual blessings. Yogini Ekadashi is said to be one of the most powerful Ekadashis, known across all three Loks—Swarg Lok (heaven), Mrityu Lok (earth), and Patal Lok (netherworld).

Spiritual Benefits of Yogini Ekadashi Vrat

  • It destroys sins committed in the past.
  • Grants divine blessings and peace of mind.
  • Helps attain Swarga Lok (heaven) in the afterlife.
  • Considered equivalent to feeding 88,000 Brahmins in terms of merit (punya).
  • Fasting purifies the body, mind, and soul, strengthening devotion toward Lord Vishnu.
Yogini Ekadashi Fasting Rules
  • The fast begins at sunrise on Ekadashi and continues until the next day.
  • Devotees observe nirjala (without water) or phalahar (fruit-based) fasts depending on their capacity.
  • Food containing grains, beans, onions, garlic, and certain spices must be strictly avoided.
  • Devotees should spend the day chanting Vishnu mantras, reading scriptures like the Vishnu Sahasranama, and offering prayers.
Parana Vidhi: Breaking the Fast
  • The fast is broken on the Dwadashi Tithi (next day of Ekadashi), after sunrise.
  • It must be done after Hari Vasara ends. Breaking the fast before this period is considered inauspicious.
  • Preferred time for Parana is Pratahkal (early morning). If not possible, it can be done after Madhyahna (midday).

Yogini Ekadashi 2025 is not just a day of fasting—it’s an opportunity to deepen your devotion, cleanse karmic debts, and move closer to moksha. With sincere prayers, discipline, and faith in Lord Vishnu, this auspicious day can become a turning point in one’s spiritual journey.
