Ayodhya is all set to dazzle once again as preparations for Deepotsav 2025 are in full swing. This year, the holy city aims to break its own Guinness World Record by lighting over 26 lakh (2.6 million) earthen lamps (diyas) along the sacred Saryu River. The grand celebration will take place on October 19, 2025, the eve of Diwali, with the main event being hosted at the majestic Ram Ki Paidi.

56 Ghats to Shine in Devotional Splendour

A total of 56 ghats on the Saryu banks will glow with rows of lamps, symbolising light’s victory over darkness. The marking work on the ghats has already begun to ensure the precise and safe arrangement of diyas. Each block is being marked at 4.5 square feet, leaving 2.5-foot-wide pathways for the smooth movement of devotees.

Aim to Break Last Year’s Record

In Deepotsav 2024, Ayodhya set a record by lighting 25,12,585 diyas along the riverbanks. This year, the administration and volunteers are determined to surpass that milestone with an even more magnificent display. The event will showcase pollution-free fireworks, blending music, technology, and devotion to create a visually stunning experience.

Grand Fireworks and Festive Highlights

10-minute green fireworks show, designed to meet international standards, will illuminate the Ayodhya skies. The eco-friendly display will offer visitors a fusion of faith and innovation, symbolising the city’s commitment to tradition while embracing sustainability.

Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University Takes Charge

Like every year, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University has been entrusted with organising the Deepotsav. Prof Sant Sharan Mishra, the nodal officer for the event, confirmed that cleaning and marking work on the ghats is underway. The marking committee, led by Dr Ranjan Singh, Head of the Department of Microbiology, is expected to complete the task within a week.

30,000 Volunteers to Join the Festivities

To ensure smooth execution, online registration for 30,000 volunteers is in its final stage. These volunteers will assist with diya arrangements, crowd management, and maintaining cleanliness during the celebrations. The procurement of earthen lamps has also begun, as the city prepares to sparkle like never before.

Ayodhya’s Deepotsav 2025 is not just a festival, it’s a symbol of devotion, unity, and the city’s deep-rooted cultural pride. With millions of diyas lighting up the ghats, Ayodhya will once again stand as the epicentre of global attention, celebrating Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya and spreading the timeless message of light, love, and dharma
