Jyeshtha Month Last Tuesday: Devotees Flock to Ayodhya’s Hanuman Garhi Mandir for Special Darshan

On the last Tuesday of the Jyeshtha month, thousands of devotees gathered at the sacred Hanuman Garhi Mandir in Ayodhya to offer special prayers to Lord Hanuman. This particular Tuesday, also known as Bada Mangal, holds deep religious significance in Sanatan Dharma, drawing pilgrims from across India to seek blessings.

The Jyeshtha month in the Hindu calendar is considered highly auspicious, especially its Tuesdays. Known as Bada Mangal or Budhwa Mangal, this day is specially dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the symbol of strength, devotion, and loyalty. Devotees believe that prayers and offerings made on this day bring peace, protection, and prosperity.

Located in Ayodhya Dham, Hanuman Garhi Temple is believed to have been established in the 10th century. The temple is unique, as it houses an idol of Lord Hanuman sitting in the lap of his mother, Mata Anjani, a rare depiction not found anywhere else in the world. According to scriptures, after Lord Ram’s return from Lanka, Hanuman made this temple his abode to protect Ramkot.

Visitors to Hanuman Garhi must climb 76 steps to reach the sanctum. On special occasions like Tuesdays and Saturdays, the temple sees an overwhelming number of devotees lining up for darshan.

Devotees from various states, including Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, participated in the sacred rituals. One pilgrim, Ved Prakash Sharma, shared that his family visited both the Ram Mandir (Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple) and Hanuman Garhi, though the latter was too crowded for darshan. He expressed joy over finally being able to visit Ayodhya after such a long wait.

In Prayagraj, devotees also thronged the Shri Bade Hanuman Ji Mandir, especially the Lete Hanuman Mandir (Reclining Hanuman Temple), located near the Sangam. Similar to Ayodhya, large numbers of devotees observed fasts and performed rituals in honour of Lord Hanuman.

It is believed that Lord Hanuman began residing at Hanuman Garhi after Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya. From here, he protected the kingdom of Ram, which led to the area being called Hanumangarh or Hanuman Kot. The temple continues to be a beacon of devotion, with pilgrims visiting year-round to seek strength, courage, and blessings.

The last Tuesday of Jyeshtha month, or Bada Mangal, is a deeply revered day in the Hindu calendar. Temples like Hanuman Garhi in Ayodhya and Bade Hanuman Mandir in Prayagraj become centers of devotion and prayer. With chants, rituals, and vibrant crowds, the spiritual atmosphere reminds everyone of Hanuman ji's eternal presence in Sanatan Dharma.
