Govardhan Puja 2025 Do's and Don'ts: Govardhan Puja is also called Annakut Puja, will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the day after Diwali. This day honors Lord Krishna’s victory over Indra. On the same day, devotees also observe Dyuta Krida, a traditional ritual involving friendly games. Depending on the Pratipada Tithi, the festival may sometimes coincide with Amavasya or fall a day apart from Diwali. Govardhan Puja is significant for offering food to Lord Krishna and performing rituals that bring prosperity, happiness, and blessings for the family.

Significance of Govardhan Puja

Govardhan Puja commemorates the day Lord Krishna lifted Govardhan Hill to protect villagers from torrential rains sent by Indra. The festival symbolizes devotion, humility, and gratitude. In Maharashtra, the day coincides with Bali Pratipada, celebrating Lord Vishnu’s Vamana Avatar and the return of King Bali from Patala Lok to bless devotees.
