Former WWE star Hulk Hogan took the stage at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee putting up a dramatic show of support for Donald Trump.

The WWE Hall of Famer, known for his persona as “Hulkamania,” spoked at the event shortly before Trump was set to accept the party’s nomination. Calling Trump his “hero” and a “gladiator”, Hogan ripped off his shirt to reveal a vest with Trump and his running mate JD Vance's names on it. “I didn't come here as Hulk Hogan. But I just want to give you a taste. I'm here tonight because I want the world to know that Donald Trump is a real hero,” he said.

Hogan’s speech came less than a week after a shooter tried to assassinate Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania. “What happened last week when they took a shot at my hero and they tried to kill the next President of the United States?” Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, said. “Enough was enough. Run wild brother. Let Trump-a-mania rule again.”

Hogan said Trump and his supporters, whom he referred to as “Trump-ites,” would steer America back on course.

Meanwhile, a grinning Trump clapped and blew a kiss at Hogan. Hogan went on to say that Trump has “always been the biggest patriot”. “Over my career, I’ve been in the ring with some of the biggest, some of the baddest dudes on the planet. Donald Trump is the toughest of them all. They’ve thrown everything at Donald Trump, all the investigations, the impeachments, the court cases, and he’s still standing and kicking their butts.”

Trump has had connections to the world of professional wrestling, taking down fellow mogul Vince McMajon at WrestleMania 2007’s “Battle of the Billionaires” event. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame six years later. Hogan was himself inducted in 2005. Meanwhile ,beyond his wrestling career spanning five decades, Hogan has appeared in films such as “Rocky III” and TV shows such as “Thunder in Paradise.”
