In response to reports of an emergency landing of its April 2 Abu Dhabi-bound flight, Etihad Airways announced on April 4 that the aircraft returned shortly after take-off to Bangalore Airport due to a technical issue and landed normally.

In a statement, Etihad Airways apologised to passengers for the delay to their travel plans, and stated the aircraft made a normal landing in Bangalore, and after the necessary technical inspections, the flight proceeded to Abu Dhabi, where it landed early this morning.

The airline's statement read, "Etihad Airways flight EY237 from Bangalore International Airport (BLR) to Abu Dhabi (AUH) on 2 April, returned to Bangalore Airport shortly after take-off due to a technical issue. The aircraft performed a normal landing into Bangalore. The required technical inspections were completed and the flight continued to Abu Dhabi, where it landed early this morning. The airline apologises to customers for the delay to their travel plans."

According to reports that cited airport sources on April 3, Etihad Airways flight EY237 that took off from Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru at 9:07 p.m. on April 2, made an emergency landing after experiencing a drop in cabin pressure, forcing the pilots to return. It was further said the aircraft took a turn over the area of Nandi Hills and made an emergency landing a little before 10 pm. Moneycontrol could not independently verify the news.

The technical issue led to a delay of more than four hours for the flight. The flight that was otherwise supposed to reach Abu Dhabi at 11:30 pm on April 2, reached the UAE capital at 4 am on April 3.
