Zomato has revealed its food-ordering trends in 2023 and shone the spotlight on a man in Mumbai who placed 3,580 orders using the food delivery platform -- that's more than nine orders each day.
Identified only as Hanees, Zomato dubbed the man as the "nation's biggest foodie" in 2023. Another man in Mumbai made it to the annual report for having placed 121 orders in one day.
Sharing more interesting reports from other cities, Zomato said that Bengaluru recorded the most number of breakfast orders while Delhi had the most number of late-night orders.
Moreover, a person from Bengaluru placed the biggest order that Zomato received this year, worth Rs 46,273. Another customer from the city sent 1,389 gift orders worth Rs 6.6 lakh via Zomato.
When it came to the food-ordering trends this year, biryani and pizza, continued to dominate the charts as more than 10.09 crore biryani orders and over 7.45 crore pizza orders were placed on Zomato.
The year's biryani orders in 2023 are enough to fill eight Qutub Minars in Delhi and the pizzas can cover an area of more than five Eden Garden cricket stadiums in Kolkata, Zomato said.
Noodle bowls came third with over 4.55 crore. That's enough noodles to wrap the circumference of the earth 22 times, the delivery giant said.
Biryani was the most-ordered dish for the eighth year in a row on Swiggy too, according to the food delivery platform’s year-ender report released recently. India ordered 2.5 biryanis per second in 2023. A Hyderabad man ordered 1,633 biryanis this year. Hyderabad saw the highest biryani orders on Swiggy, with every sixth order for the dish from the city.
