The film and advertising industries came together in mourning after the passing of legendary adman Piyush Pandey at the age of 70. Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan were among those who attended his funeral at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park Crematorium.

The film and advertising world united in grief as the legendary Piyush Pandey passed away at 70. Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan attended the funeral at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park Crematorium. The creative icon, who transformed Indian advertising with his iconic campaigns, passed away on Friday morning due to complications arising from pneumonia.

Netizens were deeply moved by the visuals, with many lauding the Bachchan family’s consistent presence during times of loss. One user wrote, “Bachchan family always stands in grief for its fraternity and friends.” Another commented, “Bachchan sir never misses paying his respects. The kind of love and loyalty he shows towards people is unmatched.”

Earlier, Amitabh Bachchan had paid a heartfelt tribute to Pandey on his blog, expressing his shock and sorrow. “No words to express our grief... Piyush Pandey passed away this morning. The creative works left behind by him shall ever be an eternal emblem of his immeasurable creativity,” he wrote.

Piyush Pandey’s contributions to Indian advertising remain unparalleled. Starting his career with Ogilvy & Mather India in 1982, he rose from a trainee account executive to become one of the industry’s most celebrated creative minds. His work on campaigns like Cadbury’s “Kuch Khaas Hai”, Asian Paints’ “Har Khushi Mein Rang Laaye”, and Fevicol defined an era of emotionally resonant Indian advertising.

He became the first Asian jury president at the Cannes Lions Festival in 2004, received the CLIO Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012, and was honoured with the Padma Shri, becoming the first Indian ad professional to receive the title.
