Ramzan in Hyderabad is a vibrant celebration, when the city transforms into a spectacle of lights and bustling markets, with the aroma of biryanis, kebabs, and sweets wafting through the air, enticing locals and visitors alike. From the historic Charminar to the bustling lanes of Old City as well as other spots in the newer parts of town, Hyderabad embraces Ramzan with unparalleled pomp, splendour, and, above all, sumptuous feasts.

Shadab Biryani

Standing tall on Ghansi Bazaar Road near the Charminar, Shadab Biryani is famed for its Hyderabadi Biryani, which is reputed to be the most authentic in the city. It comes in both meat and vegetarian versions accompanied with mirchi ka salan, but the mutton one is what you should relish here.

Hotel Nayaab

Renowned for the divisive yet beloved Haleem, a pounded meat delicacy mixed with wheat, barley, lentils and spices, Hotel Nayaab is another Ramzan hotspot near the Charminar that draws in the crowds for its Chaar Koni Naan, Paya Masala and aromatic Biryanis as well.

Standing amid a row of street-side kebab shops on Hussaini Alam Road in Old City, Al Farooj Sonu Kabab offers a wide variety of kebabs, with its signature being the Pathar Ka Gosht, marinated goat meat cooked on a hot stone, a delicacy not found elsewhere easily.

Shah Ghouse

Another place in the must-visit list, Shah Ghouse in Zohra Colony stays bustling late into the night, serving patrons with what some say is the city’s best Haleem, and a rich Qubani ka Meetha made of dried apricots for a sweet conclusion to the meal.

For those who wish to savour the traditional delights of Ramzan but in the comforts of fine dining, the iconic Taj Deccan’s refurbished all-day diner offers some notable choices, including Hyderabadi Dum Biryanis, a range of kebabs such as Hyderabadi tawa fish and Gosht Shikampuri Kebab, as well as regional Telangana favourites like Maraq soup, Hyderabadi Khatti Dal and Khubani Ka Meetha. They also make a lip smacking vegetarian Haleem with jackfruit and other veggies, served with sheermal. The captivating ambiance with its innovative glass ceiling inviting ample natural light, the umbrella fountain and the Victorian chequered flooring adds to the opulence and charm of dining here.

4 Seasons

At the 4 Seasons in Tolichowki, Lebanese cuisine takes centre stage, with the bestseller being the Kabsa Laham, an Arabic delight akin to biryani, with flavoured rice and succulent mutton. Additionally, their tender Mutton Biryani made in the Arabic style provides a delightful alternative for those seeking a break from traditional Ramzan fare.

Milan Juice Centre

With several outlets around the city, Milan Juice Centre is renowned for its refreshing beverages and delectable snacks. The Shahdood Malai or mulberry cream is their hot seller, blending the rich sweetness of mulberries with the creamy indulgence of malai, creating a delightful summer treat that keeps patrons coming back for more.
