A hairstylist's experiment with bleached hair using Ujala has ignited a colour frenzy on social media, even prompting reactions from delivery apps Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart.
In the viral video uploaded by the stylist, Rahul Kalshetty, he explains that he went ahead with the experiment following public demand. He then proceeded to apply Ujala -- a liquid fabric enhancer that promises to make white clothes whiter -- onto a client's bleached yellow-ish hair.
According to colour therapy, blue is the exact opposite of yellow and yellowish-orange. Using blue is therefore a great way of dealing with hair that is too yellow or too orange, but using a liquid fabric enhancer to do so, is unconventional and possibly harmful.
But it seemed to have worked fairly well as after Kalshetty washed his client's hair, it appeared to be whiter with tinges of blue. He did not mention whether using Ujala on the hair affected its quality.
The video drew colourful reactions.
"So this is why we are getting so many Ujala orders," commented Blinkit. It received more than 17,000 likes.
"Tujhse naraz nahi zindagi hairan hoon mai," wrote Swiggy Instamart, punning on "hair" and gathered more than 18,000 likes.
One user suggested, "Also apply red Harpic with a glossy touch of Black Hit." Another added, "Roohafza try kro na bhaai (Please try Roohafza)."
But before using Ujala on others, Kalshetty had used it on his hair first.
Among his other experiments with neutralisers, the hairstylist mentioned that he and his team had earlier used blue ball pen ink on bleached hair.
