Prince William thanked the public for the supportive messages after his father-King Charles III-was diagnosed with cancer, earlier this week, and his wife Kate, who underwent abdominal surgery and returned home last month.
Addressing a gala dinner at London's Air Ambulance Charity, William said that the messages of support had meant a lot for him and the family.
"I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you also for the kind of messages of support for Catherine and my father, especially in recent days. It means a great deal to us all," William said on the podium.
"The past few weeks have a rather medical focus, so I thought I’d come to an air ambulance function to get away from it all," he added, in jest.
William met fellow pilots and spoke to the other guests including Hollywood star Tom Cruise at the event.

“During The King's recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer."
"His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual," the statement read.
Leading Prime Ministers from around the world, including Rishi Sunak, had wished King Charles III a speedy recovery from the illness.
