Model-turned actor Poonam Pandey apologised for causing shock to her followers by announcing, through her team, on Friday that she had died due to cervical cancer at the age of 32.
"Hi everyone, its Poonam here. I am sorry I have caused this tear and I am sorry to those whom I have hurt," Pandey said on Saturday.
The actor said that her intention was to shock everyone and make them speak more about cervical cancer and spread awareness about the disease.
"My intention? To shock everyone into the conversation that we are not talking enough about, which is cervical cancer. Yes I faked my demise. Extreme, I know."
"But suddenly we are all talking about cervical cancer, aren't we? It's a disease that is silently takes your life", Pandey added in the video.
Pandey further said that the disease needed the spotlight urgently and added that she felt proud of what the news of her death had led to.
Earlier, the 32-year-old had confirmed that she was alive and had not died due to cervical cancer and raised awareness of the disease in an Instagram Reel.
"I feel compelled to share something significant with you all - I am here, alive. Cervical Cancer didn’t claim me," Pandey wrote in the caption of the video.
On Friday, Pandey's team had taken to Instagram to reveal that the model-turned actor had died due to cervical cancer at the age of 32.
