More than a month after she revealed her cancer diagnosis on social media, a designer friend of Kate Middleton and Prince William said that the couple was "going through hell" and added that their struggle was personal.
"I'm heartbroken at the moment. I think they are going through hell. I hope they will be back. It’s really personal," Amaia Arrieta, who has been styling their family for over a decade, told UK's Telegraph.
The update about the couple comes a few days after Prince William had offered assurance that they were doing fine.
"Do you mind if I ask how your wife and children are?" a woman had asked Prince William outside the James’s Place charity in Newcastle. "We’re all doing well, thank you," Prince William had said in reply.
She then specifically asked Prince William about Kate's health and he said, "We’re all doing well."
In a two-minute video, released in March, Kate had said she underwent a major abdominal surgery in London in January and at the time, it was thought her condition was non-cancerous.
"In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous," Kate had said in a video message.
However, after undergoing a successful surgery, post-operation tests revealed the presence of cancerous cells and she was asked to undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy.
"The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment," she added.
