Broadcaster and biologist David Attenborough is all set to bring a documentary special, titled David Attenborough: Ocean, on World Ocean Day. However, the biologist has recently had a conversation with Prince William, Prince of Wales, and talked about the urgent need to restore the health of the Earth.
The documentary was notably premiered early on National Geographic, in which Prince William and Sir David emphasised the crucial role of ocean recovery in supporting marine life, stabilising the climate, and ensuring a healthier future for everyone.
The conversation, filmed at the Royal Festival Hall, delves into Sir David's decades-long ocean exploration journey and why, despite current challenges, holding onto hope is crucial.
During the special exchange between Prince William and David, they highlighted the significant role of every individual plays in safeguarding one of Earth’s most precious resources.
Prince William notably highlighted during the special premiere that ocean protection is a key part of The Earthshot Prize through its "Revive Our Oceans" category. Since 2021, finalists in this category have protected and restored over 20,000 square kilometres of ocean and saved or recycled 2.5 million tonnes of water, showcasing impactful solutions.
The upcoming documentary aims to raise awareness among the audience on how they can help save the world's oceans. The documentary also features never-before-seen footage of bottom trawling and its devastating effects on the Ocean.
Ocean with David Attenborough will premiere on Sunday, June 8, at 7 PM on National Geographic. The documentary will also start streaming the same day on JioHotstar.
