Out of the three new releases this week, Mom and Spider-Man: Homecoming are debuted strongly at the box office. The films have received good reviews and it seems positive word of mouth will help the growth of the two movies. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh appreciated Sridevi-starrer Mom’s screenwriting, direction and background score.

Unlike Mom, Guest in London wasn’t well received at the box office, according to a Box Office India report. On the other hand, Mom will have chances of good growth as metros will contribute a huge ratio of the business and these cities show big jumps on Saturday.
The total occupancy rate for both Mom and Guest in London was 3,453 and 2,043 respectively across 72 cinemas in cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Jaipur.

The new venture of the Spiderman franchise saw a decent opening at the box office with 30-35 percent occupancy on day 1. The film recorded good paid preview collections which is likely to come out at around Rs 2 crore. The last Spiderman film in 2014 opened to Rs 7.48 crore net collections while The Amazing Spiderman in 2012 opened to Rs 6.77 crore net and The Homecoming will be looking to get in that same range but it could fall short, the report said. It is the third best opening for a Hollywood release this year after Fast & Furious 8 and XXX - Return Of Xander Cage.
