Actor Alia Bhatt received the "Best Actress" National Award for her performance in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial "Gangubai Kathiawadi" on Tuesday.
In a ceremony held in Delhi on Tuesday, the 30-year-old actor received her award from President Droupadi Murmu. Bhatt's husband and actor Ranbir Kapoor was also present for the occasion. In addition to Bhatt, Pratisheel Singh also won the National Award in the make-up category for the same film.
Released on February 25, 2022, "Gangubai Kathiawadi" saw Bhatt play the titular role and the movie depicted the life of a girl from Kathiawad. The movie also starred Shantanu Maheshwari, Jim Sarbh, Vijay Raaz and Seema Pahwa.

Actor Kriti Sanon also received the National Award in the "Best Actress" category for her performance in the Laxman Utekar directorial "Mimi" in which the actor played the titular role, of a woman who agrees to give birth to a child through surrogacy, for a foreign couple.
"Mimi" also starred Pankaj Tripathi, who won the National Award in the "Best Supporting Actor" for his performance in the film. The award in the "Best Supporting Actress" category was given to Pallavi Joshi for her performance in "The Kashmir Files".
Actor Allu Arjun won the National Award in the "Best Actor" category for his performance in "Pushpa-The Rise", directed by Sukumar.
Veteran actor Waheeda Rehman received the Dadasahab Phalke Award for her contribution towards the growth of Indian cinema.
