Sheikha Mahra Al Maktoum, the princess of Dubai and daughter of Dubai ruler Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is set to launch a provocative new fragrance named "Divorce." The perfume, part of her Mahra M1 brand, has already sparked global intrigue, largely due to its title and the timing of its release, closely following her publicised split from her husband.
Mahra, a 30-year-old member of Dubai's royal family, shared a teaser for the perfume on Instagram, revealing a sleek black bottle engraved with the word "Divorce." The symbolism behind the name is unmissable, directly referencing her high-profile divorce from Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum, an Emirati businessman.
The teaser video, released a day prior, features striking visuals of broken glass, black petals, and a black panther.
The announcement of the "Divorce" perfume comes just weeks after Sheikha Mahra made international headlines with her explosive Instagram post in July 2024, where she publicly ended her marriage.
"Dear husband, As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you. Take care. Your ex-wife," she wrote, utilising the Islamic practice of triple talaq to sever ties with her husband. The post, which went viral, was as shocking as it was empowering, coming just two months after the couple welcomed their first child.
This perfume line is the latest in a series of entrepreneurial endeavours by the princess, who is steadily building her brand, Mahra M1, into a symbol of luxury and personal empowerment.
The Dubai princess, a social media influencer with over 9.8 lakh followers on Instagram, is known for sharing glimpses of her life and business ventures.
She is one of the 26 children of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, one of the world's wealthiest royals, with a net worth estimated between $14 and $18 billion.
