Delhi entrepreneur praises 'convenient life in China' after 1,600-km day trip by high-speed train

'So, I traveled 1,600 km in a single day for a 3-hour meeting and wasn't dead by the end,' Akash Bansal shared. 'This shows how convenient life in China is. I took a train in the morning, traveled 800 km one way, had a meeting, and returned at night to sleep in my bed.'

A Delhi entrepreneur has sparked a discussion on X after he shared that he was left impressed with the convenience he experienced during a recent visit to China, where he travelled between cities using high-speed trains with reasonable fares.

Akash Bansal's post on X, which garnered close to 1.5 million views, drew sharp reactions and comparisons with the infrastructure back home.

"So, I traveled 1,600 km in a single day for a 3-hour meeting and wasn't dead by the end. This shows how convenient life in China is. I took a train in the morning, traveled 800 km one way, had a meeting, and returned at night to sleep in my bed," he wrote.

He further elaborated on the seamless experience, noting the sheer scale of comfort at stations. "They have a seating capacity of thousands at the stations, and almost 30 percent are massage chairs. You pay around Rs 100 and wait while receiving a massage. Everything is just so systematic, no nonsense at all," Bansal shared. He recounted a specific instance of exemplary service: arriving half an hour early at a station, a security person proactively approached him, checked his ticket, and facilitated a change to a train departing in just 10 minutes – all without a single request from Bansal.

"Mind you, I said nothing; this fellow did all this on his own. He could have ignored me," the Delhi-based entrepreneur said.

The one-way ticket cost was approximately Rs 4,000.

Social media reacts: A stark comparison to India
Bansal's glowing account prompted a flurry of reactions on social media, largely drawing comparisons to India's infrastructure.

Bharatram (@AwliLuwlyKoli) commented: "Honestly, I have a tough time controlling my sniggers when I hear people suggesting we're ANYWHERE CLOSE to China! But to be fair, when those railway lines were built, the CCP Politburo didn't have to contend with a devious, malevolent opposition, local baahubalis, votebanks..."

Nabil Kazi (@nQaze) further highlighted the speed difference: "That superfast one goes 350 km/hour (to compare: Vande Bharat travels 120 km/hour). On top of that, you don't feel like you've travelled. Went recently from Guangzhou to Shantou. 450 km in 1 hour 45 minutes."

Another user, Bangalore citizen (@TechiePrashant), lamented India's perceived lag: "Sign of true progress! Not sure when will India match these kind of standards. Once upon a time 25-30 years ago China was a laggard. Today they are the world's top superpower while India reels in corruption, bribery, politics, multiple huddles towards making such progress!"
