Heavy rains lashed Chennai as Cyclone Michaung continued to cause havoc along India's southern coast, leaving roads, buildings and other major locations across the Tamil Nadu capital inundated, thereby disrupting normal lives.
A landmark location of the city that was also not been spared by the heavy rainfall was Marina Beach, which was flooded by the showers. Several X (formerly Twitter) users shared photos of the beach that was immersed in water with grey skies hovering above the ground. A similar scene was witnessed at the beach in November 2021, when heavy rains again lashed Chennai.

The Chennai airport situated in the Meenambakkam area of the city was forced to suspend operations for two hours on Monday morning due to the rains. Around 10 city-bound flights were diverted to Bengaluru due to strong winds.
The state government has declared a public holiday for four districts of Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu.
