Stranded on car roof in flooded river, Gujarat couple rescued after 4 hours. Viral video

Two people were dramatically rescued after being stranded for four hours on top of their car roof in a flooded river in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district.

Suresh and Naina Mistry, a couple from a village in Sabarkantha, found themselves in a life-threatening situation when their car was swept away by the surging waters of the Karol River, which lies between Kadiyadara and Vadiyaveer villages.

The car was carried 1.5 km downstream before it lodged against a rock. With the water levels rising rapidly, the duo managed to escape onto the roof of their vehicle, where they remained trapped as the river's waters continued to swell.

A viral video shared widely on social media shows Suresh Mistry trying to contact people from his cellphone as he remains perched atop the car as waters gush onto him.

Gujarat's relentless rains that have plunged several cities and villages into a state of emergency with severe water-logging and flood-like conditions.

Over 50 people have died so far due to weeks of heavy downpour and widespread destruction of property has been reported from several areas. Over 37,000 people have been rescued so far from inundated areas.

Several days ago, a man from Vadodara revealed that three of his prized cars have been severely damaged by the floodwaters. He shared images of his partially submerged vehicles—a luxury Audi A6, a Ford EcoSport, and a Maruti Suzuki Ciaz—sitting in several inches of water.

Crocodiles were spotted across various parts of Vadodara due to raging riverwaters. They were rescued, along with several other animals including dogs, from the floods.
