Five people have been booked after condoms, stones and gutkha were found in samosas served at an office canteen in Pune. The shocking case of food contamination was discovered on March 27.
According to a report by news agency PTI, the samosas were served in the canteen of a major automobile company based in Pimpari Chinchwad in Pune. Investigation into the incident revealed that the motive behind the contamination was revenge.
Among the five people booked in the case, two were workers of a subcontracting firm that was asked to supply the samosas. Three of the accused were partners of another such firm that had been removed earlier for adulteration, police said on April 8.
The firm that was earlier supplying food to the automobile firm was called SRA Enterprises. Its contract was terminated after a bandage was found in snacks. Three partners of SRA Enterprises then conspired to plant their workers at Manohar Enterprises, the firm hired to supply snacks to the canteen after the removal of SRA Enterprises. The workers were tasked with contaminating the food to defame the new supplier.
