Uber takes intercity motorhomes to Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune after successful run in Delhi

Uber has announced that it will be launching its Intercity Motorhomes service to Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune following a successful initial trial run in Delhi-NCR. The ride-hailing company also revealed that it plans to keep the premium travel option available in the national capital region (NCR) through year-end.

Uber said that the expansion comes after the Delhi-NCR pilot achieved full booking capacity throughout its run.

Residents of the three new cities can start booking Motorhome trips from October 15, with advance reservations opening two days earlier on October 13.

Launched in August to encourage long-distance travel through Uber's Intercity platform, the caravan-styled vehicles were a popular alternative among travelers seeking private, comfortable alternatives for outstation journeys.

These specially designed vehicles accommodate four to five passengers and feature amenities typically associated with premium travel. Each Motorhome includes entertainment options, food storage and preparation facilities, and onboard conveniences that transform routine intercity trips into mobile lounge experiences. A dedicated driver and helper accompany every journey.

The timing of this expansion aligns with India's peak travel season. Between October and December, millions take to the roads for festivals, wedding ceremonies, and holiday celebrations. Favorable weather conditions during these months further boost the appeal of road-based travel options.

Uber currently operates Intercity service across more than 3,000 routes nationwide, providing app-based convenience combined with the flexibility that road travel offers.

The Motorhomes initiative represents part of Uber's broader strategy to modernize long-distance travel in India. By introducing technology-driven solutions to a sector traditionally dominated by informal operators, the company aims to deliver enhanced reliability and transparency to intercity travelers.

However, due to strong demand, Uber has stated that travelers must book Motorhome trips at least 48 hours before their planned departure date.
