A 32-year-old in Bengaluru died after he sat on a bucket of crackers set afire by his friends. The incident was meant to be a prank and the deceased was promised an autorickshaw if he completed the dare. But, Shabarish--a daily wage labourer--suffered severe wounds in his abdomen and later succumbed to the injuries.
CCTV footage shows the friends celebrating by a footpath in Konanakunte and then leaving Shabarish by himself after lighting the crackers. The man is seen collapsing after the crackers burst.

Shabarish was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries, a senior police officer said. According to a News18 report, Shabarish was drunk when he agreed to participate in the prank.
Responding to the incident, deputy commissioner of police (south Bengaluru) Lokesh Jagalasar told PTI, “On October 31, we received information that a group of seven friends challenged one of the members to sit on a bucket of crackers which would be set off. The person has passed away." A case of culpable homicide has been registered and the six members of the group involved in the incident have been arrested and produced before the court, he added.
The video has sparked widespread condemnation. "How brainless! All seven of them have to be charged with first degree murder," commented one X user. “What is wrong with people. Pranks are supposed to be funny not dangerous," wrote another.
