A Bengaluru man whose office is located next to the four-storey building in Koramangala that caught fire yesterday has described the incident as “so, so scary.” In a series of posts shared on the microblogging platform X, the man said his office was evacuated within 15 minutes as the building next to it began to burn.
The fire started at Bengaluru’s Mudpipe Café in Koramangala opposite Forum Mall on October 18. The café stood on the topmost floor of the four-storey building. Several employees managed to escape, but one café worker was filmed jumping down to escape the flames in a hair-raising video. He is currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
“Fire started around 11:45 and burned down most of the top floor and the floor below as well,” the X user who witnessed the incident wrote, adding that it was only 30 to 40 minutes later that fire trucks arrived to bring the blaze under control.

In a separate tweet, the man said a similar incident happened last week when a car burned down opposite Forum but the fire department did not arrive to extinguish the flames.
Two people, including the man who jumped from the terrace, received serious injuries in the fire. Both are being treated in a private hospital.
The fire apparently broke out at around noon in Mudpipe 'Hookah bar and cafe' located on the top floor of the four-storey building, where several LPG cylinders had been stored. People in the vicinity heard blast-like sounds and rushed out to witness the top floor in flames. There were no customers in the café when the fire began.
A fire official told news agency PTI that eight fire tenders reached the spot to extinguish the fire.
