The growth in the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) industry has reduced the common man's dependence on cash transactions and choose cashless transactions through different UPI applications.
In yet another example of the growing preference towards cashless payments, a Bengaluru dholak waala was recently seen, placing his phone on the instrument and accepting tips from users digitally.
In a X (formerly Twitter), a user shared a photo of the dholak waala who had placed his phone with the QR code for others to give him money.

Tata Sons N Chandrasekaran recently recalled how during his morning runs, he found coconut sellers showing a greater interest in accepting cashless payments rather than cash payments.
"When I go for morning runs and want to have coconut water, seller has no time to accept cash. He asks PhonePe karenge ya Google Pay karenge?," Chandrasekaran had said at the B20 Summit India 2023, in August.
However, not everyone have shown an interest in accepting cashless payments. A Bengaluru man recently shared how he found autorickshaw drivers in Mumbai uncomfortable in accepting UPI payments.
"It's funny how Mumbai is the 'Financial Capital' of India but 99% of rickshaw and taxi valas don't accept UPI. Heck, several shops and popular establishments like Rustom Ice Cream and Kyani only deal in cash. Come to Bengaluru and every rickshaw has like 3 different QR codes," the man had written in a X (formerly Twitter) post.
The man's post saw several critical comments from users, who disagreed with his view.
