A bus stand in Bengaluru recently disappeared, one week after it was installed. The bus stand, located on Cunningham Road in central Bengaluru, was managed by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and was installed in August, a Times of India report said.
As per reports, the bus stand had chairs, roofs and poles and was built at a cost of Rs 10 lakh. The miscreants did not leave any part of structure behind while stealing the facility. The bus stand was installed on August 21 and disappeared on August 28.
The associate vice-president of the company responsible in building the bus stand, N Ravi Reddy, filed a theft complaint on September 30."We undertake the work of constructing bus shelters in the city for BBMP. Accordingly, we had constructed this particular bus shelter (close to Coffee Day) on Cunningham Road on August 21. It was a stainless-steel structure. The cost of the shelter was Rs 10 lakh. However, on visiting the shelter on August 28, we found it missing," the complainant said.
Police officials said that they were checking CCTV footage and would look to catch the miscreants, using video evidence.
"Once we get the footage, we can trace the miscreants and crack the case," an officer told Times of India.
The bus stand was essential to several commuters, who had to travel to areas located in the eastern and northern parts of Bengaluru such as Banaswadi, Hebbal and Yelahanka. The bus stand was also located behind the Bengaluru city commissioner's office and less than one kilometre away from India's largest legislative building- Vidhana Soudha.
