For the forthcoming three-match one-day series against Australia A in Kanpur, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed two different India A squads. Notably missing from both teams are former batting stalwart Virat Kohli and India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma.

Prior to their three-match ODI series against Australia beginning on October 19, the senior team is anticipated to use the India A series, which is slated to comprise three matches, as a preparatory platform.

In order to prepare for the Australia tour, Rohit, who hasn't played competitive cricket since playing for Mumbai in the IPL 2025, was rumored to make an appearance for India A in Kanpur. In the India A series, Kohli was also a contender for a comeback. Both mainstays, though, are anticipated to make a direct comeback for the senior ODI series.

Since India's Champions Trophy victory, when they decided to retire from Test cricket ahead of the England series, Rohit and Kohli will be wearing the Indian colors for the first time in white-ball cricket. Since then, Shubman Gill has taken over as Test captain, and he has guided the team to a thrilling 2-2 draw in England.

Rajat Patidar, the captain of Madhya Pradesh and Royal Challengers Bangalore, will captain India A in the opening One-Day International match against Australia A. The core of the team will consist of Prabhsimran Singh, Riyan Parag, Ayush Badoni, and Ravi Bishnoi.

Tilak Varma will be the captain for the second and third ODIs, while Patidar will serve as the vice-captain. Abhishek Sharma, Harshit Rana, and Arshdeep Singh will be added to the team, preserving a blend of up-and-coming players and seasoned pros.

Green Park Stadium will host the three one-day games on September 30, October 3, and October 5, 2025. All games are set to begin at 1:30 PM IST.
