For the second time in 2023, the Konkan board of Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has announced a lottery for the sale of 5,311 affordable homes in satellite towns near Mumbai, including Thane, Palghar, and Raigad district. The homes will be in the range of Rs 9 to 49 lakh.
Of these, over 1,000 homes are being sold under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana (PMAY). The union government has capped the family income to qualify for benefits under the EWS (economically weaker section) category from Rs 3 to Rs 6 lakh. Owing to this, MHADA expects a surge in the number of applications under this category.
"People can submit their applications until October 16, 2023. The lottery results will be announced on November 7," informed Sanjeev Jaiswal, Chief Executive Officer and Vice President of MHADA.
Locations
According to a list published by MHADA, these affordable homes will be in micro-markets near Mumbai, like Vasai, Virar, Titwala, Thane, Kalyan, Mumbra, etc.
Size and price
The homes will be between 258 to 667 sq ft carpet area. The cheapest apartments, for Rs 9.89 lakh, will be in Vasai and measure around 258 sq ft. The costliest, priced at Rs 49.81 lakh and measuring around 667 sq ft, will be in Virar, according to MHADA. Several of the apartments on sale are in projects that are under-construction.
