On 22 August, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate three new stretches of the Metro network — the 2.45 km Esplanade to Sealdah section of the Green Line, the 6.77 km Noapara to Jai Hind Airport section of the Yellow Line and the 4.4 km Hemanta Mukhopadhyay to Beleghata section of the Orange Line.

The new Esplanade–Sealdah Metro stretch will drastically cut travel time between Howrah and Sealdah, reducing the 40–45 minute road journey to just 11 minutes, offering huge relief to daily commuters.

The Yellow Line stretch from Noapara to Jai Hind Airport will make airport travel faster and smoother, benefiting passengers, airline staff and workers alike. With an interchange at Dum Dum Cantonment, it connects directly to the rest of the city and major railway stations, cutting the Esplanade–Airport journey to just 30 minutes.
