Wings India 2024: Akasa Air signs MoU with Noida International Airport; becomes second airline to start operations from NIA

Akasa Air has tied up with Noida International Airport for strategic collaboration. As part of the strategic partnership Akasa Air expects UP to be a significant market for air traffic in India.

Commenting on the development, Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder & Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa Air said, "There is a lot of unfulfilled demand for air travel in the North of India. Akasa Air would like to increase its presence at the newer airports coming up in India."

Christoph Schnellmann, Chief Executive Officer at the Noida International Airport said, "Noida International Airport is very excited about the new strategic partnership with Akasa Air. We are at the cusp of bringing the new airport to life and see construction activities accelerate in 2024."

He also added that as part of phase-I construction of the airport, NIA expects to carter to 12 million customers.

Wings India 2024, the largest civil aviation exhibition in Asia, commenced on Thursday at the Begumpet airport in Hyderabad. The event was inaugurated by Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of State for Civil Aviation General V.K. Singh, and Telangana Minister for Roads, Buildings and Cinematography Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, along with representatives of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

The expo's first day attracted business professionals and aviation enthusiasts from all over the country. After the official inauguration, guests had the opportunity to explore various aircraft on an invitation basis. At the same time, the business-focused segment of the event unfolded, complemented by captivating aerial displays on the airport runway.

Akasa is the second airline after IndiGo to announce operations from Noida International Airport.
