Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, October 16, to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several major development projects worth over Rs 13,400 crore. His visit will cover Srisailam and Kurnool, with projects spanning key sectors such as power, defence, petroleum, railways, roads, and industries.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “I will be in Andhra Pradesh tomorrow, 16th October. I will pray at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam in Srisailam.”

Visit to Srisailam

PM Modi will begin his visit to Andhra Pradesh by offering prayers at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Srisailam, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and among the 52 Shakti Peeths. The temple is unique for housing both a Jyotirlinga and a Shakti Peeth within the same premises.

He will also visit the Sree Shivaji Spoorthi Kendra, a memorial complex featuring models of four historic forts — Pratapgad, Rajgad, Raigad, and Shivneri, and a central statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in deep meditation. The centre commemorates Shivaji’s 1677 visit to Srisailam.

Projects to be launched in Kurnool

In Kurnool, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone, inaugurate, and dedicate to the nation multiple projects worth around Rs 13,430 crore. These include initiatives in power transmission, industrial development, roads, railways, petroleum, and defence manufacturing.

The major projects include:

• Transmission System Strengthening at Kurnool-III Pooling Station: worth over Rs 2,880 crore, to enhance power transformation capacity by 6,000 MVA and enable large-scale renewable energy transmission.

• Industrial Areas at Orvakal (Kurnool) and Kopparthy (Kadapa): developed at a total investment of over Rs 4,920 crore with modern, multi-sectoral infrastructure.

• Sabbavaram-Sheelanagar six-lane Greenfield Highway: costing over Rs 960 crore, to decongest Visakhapatnam and boost trade.

• Six road projects: worth about Rs 1,140 crore, aimed at improving connectivity and travel safety.

• Railway projects: valued at over Rs 1,200 crore, including the Kottavalasa-Vizianagaram Fourth Line, a rail flyover between Pendurti and Simhachalam North, and the doubling of the Kottavalasa-Boddavaram and Shimiliguda-Gorapur sections.

In the energy sector, PM Modi will dedicate the Srikakulam-Angul Natural Gas Pipeline built by GAIL at a cost of Rs 1,730 crore, connecting Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.

He will also inaugurate Indian Oil’s 60 TMTPA LPG bottling plant at Chittoor, established at an investment of around Rs 200 crore, which will cater to 7.2 lakh customers across Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.

In the defence sector, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Advanced Night Vision Products Factory at Nimmaluru in Krishna district, set up by Bharat Electronics Limited for Rs 360 crore to manufacture cutting-edge electro-optical systems for the Indian armed forces.

According to an official statement, the projects reflect the Centre’s focus on boosting regional infrastructure, promoting industrialisation, and driving inclusive growth across Andhra Pradesh.
