Why is Goldy Brar trending on X? What's his link with Sidhu Moosewala and Salman Khan?

Gangster Goldy Brar, the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022, has been trending on X after several reports on Wednesday suggested that he has been shot dead in the United States.

Earlier this year, Brar was designated terrorist by the Indian government under the anti-terror law UAPA.

The gangster was reportedly attacked by unknown assailants on Tuesday evening in Fairmont and Holt Avenue. The attackers suddenly opened fire and fled from the crime scene, reported Asianet. Brar's known rivals, criminals Arsh Dalla and Lakbhir, have reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack, citing their longstanding feud with Brar.

Moneycontrol, however, could not independently verify the authenticity of these reports.

Goldy Brar, who was for long believed to be in Canada, has been linked as the mastermind behind the murder of Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala. Moosewala was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, 2022.

An activist of the banned Babbar Khalsa International, Brar was involved in the smuggling of high-grade arms, ammunition and explosive materials through drones from across the border and supplying them for carrying out killings and also providing sharpshooters.

Brar is also known to be a key member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Brar, last year, had stated that the next on his target is actor Salman Khan.

Notably, since November 2022, Salman's security level has been elevated to Y-Plus after threats from gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar.
