A Vistara flight operating from Mumbai to Frankfurt in Germany was diverted to Erzurum Airport in Turkey due to a security threat. In a post on X, Vistara posted,"Flight UK27 from Mumbai to Frankfurt (BOM-FRA) has been diverted to Turkey (Erzurum airport) due to security reasons and has landed safely at 1905 hours."

"Vistara flight UK 27 operating from Mumbai to Frankfurt on 06 September 2024 has been diverted to Turkey due to a security concern that was noted by our crew while onboard. The aircraft has safely landed at the Erzurum Airport. As per protocol, the relevant authorities were immediately alerted and we are fully cooperating with the security agencies to complete the mandatory security checks. At Vistara, the safety and security of our customers, crew, and aircraft remain our highest priority," said a spokesperson of the airline.

The spokesperson said that the crew onboard the flight noted a security concern and after that the relevant authorities were informed. According to sources, all 247 passengers on board are safe and local authorities are in touch with them. Sources confirmed that emergency landing was triggered by a message discovered on a piece of paper mentioning a bomb threat was found by a passenger. The passenger handed it over to a crew member and the pilot was alerted. After landing, all passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft.

Earlier, this month an IndiGo flight from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh to Hyderabad in Telangana was diverted to Nagpur following a bomb threat. In a statement, IndiGo said its flight 6E-7308, scheduled from Jabalpur to Hyderabad, got diverted to Nagpur International Airport on Sunday morning due to a bomb threat message on board the aircraft. "Upon landing, all passengers were disembarked, and mandatory security checks were promptly initiated. Passengers were provided with assistance and refreshments," the statement added.

A police official said the bomb threat message was written on a piece of paper, which was found in the bathroom of the aircraft. However, nothing suspicious was found after a thorough check by security agencies, the official added.
