A 67-year-old man was allegedly killed by his son and the family's former servant in a conspiracy over a property dispute in Delhi.

According to a Times of India report, the victim's body was found stuffed in a gunny bag and dumped in a drain in Narela, northwest Delhi.

The victim, Ramesh Bharadwaj, a resident of outer-north Delhi, had been missing since January 28 after leaving home on his scooter. His daughter filed a missing person’s report the following day.

Reviewing CCTV footage and going through witness statements, police traced Bharadwaj at a rented flat occupied by his servant, Jitender, 47, before his disappearance.

The cops got suspicious when both Jitender and his 19-year-old son, Vishal, went missing. A phone belonging to Vishal was tracked, and further investigation led to his arrest.

Vishal confessed during the interrogation that he and his father had murdered Bharadwaj. According to Vishal, the two men stuffed the body into a gunny bag and discarded it in the drain the same day.

Vishal further said that the crime was orchestrated by Love Bharadwaj, 35, the victim's son.

Police believe that Love was upset with his father over favouritism toward his daughters and pressure to transfer property. Matters escalated when the victim filed a request under the Protection of Senior Citizens Act to evict Love and his family from their home.

In an attempt to prevent eviction, Love allegedly conspired with Jitender, offering him Rs 35,000 to carry out the murder. Love and Vishal have been arrested, while Jitender remains at large. A post-mortem confirmed that Bharadwaj died from strangulation.

The police have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are continuing their investigation.
