A doctor was shot dead inside a nursing home in southeast Delhi's Kalindi Kunj area early Thursday, following which the police arrested a juvenile in connection with the case.
The detained juvenile and another teen allegedly shot dead Dr Javed Akhtar, a Unani practitioner (BUMS), at Nima Hospital in Khadda Colony of the area. The incident occurred at around 1 am when the two went for first-aid treatment at the three-bedded facility located in a narrow lane.
As per a PTI report, the main accused, aged around 16 years, after allegedly committing the crime uploaded a post on a social media platform with his photograph and a caption: "Kar diya 2024 mein murder" (Finally committed murder in 2024).
Efforts are currently on to apprehend the second suspect in the case, as per the police. A female nurse from of the nursing home and her husband have also been questioned in connection with the case.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range) SK Jain said the murder was a targeted killing executed by two boys living in the same locality. One of them has been apprehended from Hapur but the motive behind the crime is yet to be ascertained, he said.
The official further reported that the two individuals initially approached a compounder for wound dressing.
Later, they entered the Unani practitioner's office and fatally shot him.
The apprehended juvenile is the one who allegedly opened fire at the doctor. His act was also captured in a CCTV camera installed in the nursing home, Jain told PTI.
