Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel marked Independence Day with significant announcements and celebrations in Nadiad, Kheda district. Patel revealed that Gujarat will be home to India’s first indigenously developed semiconductor chip plant. He highlighted the state's achievements, noting, “We have so far attracted an investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in the electronics and semiconductor sector.” Patel attributed this success to the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, which played a pivotal role in drawing investments in emerging technologies like AI and semiconductors.

In his address, Patel also introduced a major update to the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY). He announced an increase in the monthly income limit for families eligible for free food grains from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000, stating, “To cover more people under this scheme, I announce to increase the monthly income limit.”

Additionally, Patel outlined plans for significant infrastructure development, including a substantial allocation of Rs 5,000 crore to enhance road infrastructure. He reaffirmed Gujarat’s commitment to the national vision of a developed India by 2047, saying, “Gujarat is committed to being a leading state in achieving the target of Viksit Bharat by 2047.”

In the renewable energy sector, Patel shared that Gujarat aims to install 100 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2030 and highlighted the state's leadership in solar rooftop schemes. He also mentioned the state's ambitious goal of covering 10 lakh houses under the PM Surya Ghar scheme for free electricity. “Gujarat has always been a leading state in accepting and achieving the targets set by the PM,” he added.

Patel concluded with a nod to environmental efforts, noting Gujarat’s second-place ranking in the national ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, with over 7.25 crore trees planted. The Chief Minister’s Independence Day address underscored Gujarat’s ongoing efforts to advance in technology, social welfare, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability.
