Telangana Group 1 Ranking List 2025 Cancelled

The Telangana High Court has cancelled the controversial ranking list for the Group-1 preliminary examination. The court's decision, delivered by Justice Sunil Choudhary, mandates the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) to re-conduct the entire selection process adhering to new, court-accepted guidelines within a strict eight-month timeframe.

The ruling brings relief to thousands of candidates who had raised serious concerns over the fairness and transparency of the recruitment process for highly coveted state government posts.

The primary issue leading to the court's intervention was the methodology used to prepare the ranking list. The TSPSC had announced the list based on a 10% variation in marks, a criterion that many petitioners argued was arbitrary and unfair. This method, they contended, led to significant discrepancies in determining which candidates advanced to the next stage, ultimately stalling the entire recruitment drive.

Candidates had repeatedly petitioned the court, highlighting that despite the preliminary exams being halted and re-conducted multiple times due to various issues, the process remained mired in controversy and never reached a logical conclusion.

Taking a proactive stand, Justice Sunil Choudhary acted suo motu, on his own motion, to address the systemic problems plaguing the recruitment. The court heard extensive arguments on June 7th, thoroughly examining the flaws in the existing process.

An important moment in the hearing was the submission by the Samvad Public University Council, which presented a set of proposed business guidelines to ensure a more transparent and equitable selection process. The High Court accepted these proposed guidelines, effectively laying down a new rulebook for the TSPSC to follow in the fresh recruitment cycle.

The High Court’s Directives and Deadline
In its final order, the bench issued clear and time-bound directives. The previously announced ranking list stands cancelled entirely. The TSPSC must conduct a new selection process strictly following the guidelines accepted by the court. The entire process, from re-notification to finalization of results, must be completed within eight months.

The court also clarified that if the process extends beyond this deadline, the appointments would still be considered valid from the date the new process is initiated, safeguarding the seniority of the finally selected candidates.

This verdict nullifies the previous contentious ranking list and offers a fresh start for all Group-1 aspirants. It sets a clear precedent for conducting recruitment drives with heightened accountability and transparency. Candidates must now prepare for a re-notified exam that will be conducted under the new court-mandated guidelines.
