Ever since her debut at the age of 16 when she scored an unbeaten 114 against Ireland, Mithali has gone on to become one of India’s most reliable batters. Her records extend across different formats for Indian women and now the 35-year-old has also gone past Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in her tally of T20I runs.
Raj has 2,283 T20I ahead of Rohit (2,207) and Kohli (2,102). What's more impressive is that Mithali has taken the same number of innings (80) as Rohit in getting to this impressive tally. She is even ahead of Martin Guptil (2271), who leads the charts in T20Is for men.
Over the course of her 19-year-long career, Raj;s contribution to women’s cricket has been immense. She also holds the record for most runs scored by a women cricketer in ODIs with 6550 runs at a staggering average of 51.17. She is the only woman to cross the 6,000 run mark in ODIs. She also led India to their first World Cup final in 2005 and their first-ever Test series victory in England in 2006.
Raj is also India's most successful opener in T20s with 1,356 runs in 43 matches and together with Smriti Mandhana forms India’s most prolific opening pair in the shortest format. Together they have scored 835 runs in 26 innings with two century and four half-century stands shared between them.
