All you need to know about proposed American style city near Noida Airport

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has received a proposal from a United States-based firm to build an “American City” near Noida airport

As the upcoming Noida International Airport inches closer to completion and infrastructure development in the nearby areas makes progress, there has been an uptick in global interest and investment in the Yamuna Expressway region.  The latest in the list is the proposal to build an American style city near the upcoming airport.

After receiving proposals for a Japanese City and a Korean City, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has received a proposal from a United States-based firm to build an “American City” in the region.

Noida International Airport is set to start operations from April 2025.

According to officials, representatives of a US-based firm had met YEIDA top authorities last month and sought around 1200 acres of land near Noida airport for setting up an “American City”. The Authority has given an in-principle approval for the allotment of the land for the project in the region.

“The US-based firm wants to invest around $4 billion in the next six years in the region. A final approval from the Uttar Pradesh government will also be sought on the project,” a senior YEIDA official told Moneycontrol.

Officials said that four YEIDA sectors that include sector 22D, 22E, 5 and 5A along the Yamuna Expressway have been identified for the project.

What will the proposed American City have?

The “American City” project will consist of a school, college, an international institute with facilities for performing arts, all built to American standards. The proposed city will also have commercial complexes, American styled luxury residences and entertainment hubs, officials said.

Officials said that the proposal to develop an “American City” had been submitted by the US-based consultancy firm Blue Sky Vantage.

A senior YEIDA official said that the investors want a mixed land use parcel for development with various usage components, which would include institutions of international repute, economic activity ventures and commercial towers.

They have also requested 100 acres each in Sector 22E for a university and in 22D for the construction of a group housing project. The proposed university under the American City project, will also have a management school, facilities for sculpture, dance, drama and theatre.

Officials said that the project will also have a township other than a group housing project in sector 22D. The township will  have industrial zones that will focus on fields like semiconductors, technology, artificial intelligence, retail, hospitality, management, manufacturing and healthcare.

The city will also offer a variety of sports and recreational facilities similar to those in American cities.

Previously, the YEIDA had announced that a Korean City will be set up in Sector 4A and a Japanese City in Sector 5A. The Japanese City will come up on 395 hectares, while the Korean City will be set up on 365 hectares.

The decision to establish Japanese and Korean cities was taken during meetings with investors from Japan and Korea ahead of the UP Global Investors Summit in 2023.
