RailTel Corporation of India, a central public sector undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Railways, on August 10 said its consolidated income rose to Rs 385 crore in the first quarter of 2022-23, posting on-year growth of 22 percent.

The central PSU posted a profit before tax (PBT) of Rs 35 crore and a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 26 crore during the first quarter on a consolidated basis.

This is a growth of 25 percent in PBT and a growth of 24 percent in PAT in comparison to the first quarter of 2021-22.

Talking about the higher growth in income, RailTel's Chairman and Managing Director Aruna Singh said that she expects the company to post even better results going forward on the back of project execution.

“Considering the projects on hand such as video surveillance system, tunnel communication works, and defence sector projects, I am very hopeful that we will close the year with even better results," Singh said in a statement.

RailTel had posted its highest-ever consolidated income in 2021-22, registering a growth of 15 percent year on year.

Singh mentioned that RailTel had an order book of Rs 5,800 crore and that the company was winning multiple crore orders consistently through competitive biddings.

She said that RailTel was aiming for a 20 percent growth in its topline in 2022-23.

On August 19, the company's shares were down 0.7 percent to close at Rs 98.15 apiece on National Stock Exchange.
