Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, Air India has temporarily halted its Tel Aviv flights, and airlines are now rerouting their flights to steer clear of Iranian airspace, PTI reported.
This change in flight paths is expected to incur higher operational expenses for carriers and could potentially lead to an increase in airfares.
A day earlier, Air India and Vistara declared their decision to steer clear of Iranian airspace for their flights bound for Europe and other Western destinations, amidst the ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran.
Both Air India and Vistara have opted for alternative routes for certain flights originating from or headed to India.

Air India, the sole Indian carrier with flights to Israel, operates four weekly flights connecting Delhi and Tel Aviv.
Although specifics regarding the alternate flight paths were not disclosed, sources familiar with the matter revealed that the airlines are bypassing Iranian airspace when flying towards Western destinations.
The escalating tensions between Iran and Israel in the Middle East not only impact the region but also cast a shadow over global air travel.
