Wipro to add 25,000 IT professionals in Karnataka

    Wipro Chairman Azim Premji on Wednesday said the information technology (IT) major will add 25,000 IT professionals in Karnataka. "In our IT business we are in the midst of a major expansion which will add 25,000 people to Karnataka and to Bengaluru," Premji said. "Our experience is that the source of the best technical talent in the country is in Bengaluru and the reason is in spite of Bangaluru's infrastructure problem it has very very nice weather, strong science background and extremely cosmopolitan nature of the city," he said.

    Stating that Wipro has a very deep and long time commitment to Karnataka, Premji said it employs more than 55,000 people and expanding each of its business in the state. "It really endorses the fact that Karnataka is a very hospitable and very progressive state," he said during the inauguration of Invest Karnataka 2016, a global investors meet, here. Premji also mentioned about company's investment in Azim Premji University which is dedicated to development and teaching.
