Tata Sons on Wednesday appointed N Chandrasekaran as Chairman, filling in the post which was vacant since Cyrus Mistry was ousted on October 24. Ratan Tata served as Interim Chairman of the conglomerate which has since been embroiled in a boardroom battle between the Tata Group and Shapoorji Pallonji Group, the faction supporting Mistry and contesting his ouster.
Here is a list of Chandrasekaran’s major achievements which were crucial to his appointment as Tata Sons captain.
Other Roles
Chandrasekaran was also appointed as a Director on the board of the Reserve Bank of India in 2016.
He has served as the Chairperson of the IT Industry Governors’ at the World Economic Forum, Davos in 2015-16.
He also led IT industry body NASSCOM in 2012-2013. Currently, he is a member of NASSCOM’s governing Executive Council.
Personal Life
Besides his business acumen, Chandrasekaran is known for his photography skills and, as a long-distance runner. He has participated and completed several marathons across the globe in Amsterdam, Boston, Chicago, Berlin, Mumbai, New York, Prague, Stockholm, Salzburg and Tokyo.
He is based out of Mumbai and lives with wife Lalitha and son Pranav.
