Sudhin Mathur has been named Managing Director of Motorola Mobility India and has been inducted as a full-time director on the company's Board.

He will also continue to serve in the role of Executive Director for Lenovo MBG India.

Mathur replaces Amit Boni, who was serving as General Manager for Motorola India.

In October 2016, Boni transitioned to the global strategy team within the company.

"Lenovo Mobile Business Group has appointed Sudhin Mathur as Managing Director - Motorola Mobility India. He has been inducted as a full-time director on the Motorola Mobility Board in India," Motorola said in statement.

Mathur has been running the operations for Lenovo MBG in India since its inception here four years ago and has been instrumental in leading the seamless integration of Motorola and Lenovo mobile businesses, it added.

"He brings enormous amount of experience and with his distinguished track record in his prior assignments as well as at Lenovo MBG, we are confident that Sudhin will take the business to greater heights as we challenge industry conventions and redefine the smartphone sector," Lenovo MBG APAC Vice President Zhuliang Ye said.

Under Mathur's leadership, Lenovo (along with Motorola) notched the No 2 position in the Indian smartphone market (by volume), according to research firm IDC.
